PAWG, and the words people confuse it with
By Remy · Updated September 2026
PAWG stands for phat ass white girl. It is a body-type tag, not a content style, and it describes exactly what the words say: a white woman with a large backside. That is the whole definition. Everything else people attach to it is inference.
The phat spelling is the giveaway about where it comes from. That is hip-hop slang, where the word has meant desirable for decades, and the acronym travelled out of that vernacular into forums and adult sites through the 2000s. Nobody sat down and coined it. It accreted, which is why it reads as a search tag rather than a word anybody says out loud.
Both pronunciations are in circulation: one syllable rhyming with dog, or spelled out letter by letter. We see it typed both ways in the searches that land here, so neither is the wrong one.
PAWG vs BBW: not the same thing
This is the confusion worth clearing up first, because the two get used interchangeably and they describe different bodies.
BBW means big beautiful woman. It is a description of the whole figure — overall size. PAWG describes one part of the figure and makes no claim about the rest. A PAWG can be slim through the waist, shoulders and legs and frequently is; the term is about proportion at one end, not volume everywhere.
The practical consequence is that a list which mixes them satisfies neither reader. Someone who searched BBW and gets slim builds with one emphasized feature has not found what she was looking for, and the reverse is just as true. They are separate searches because they are separate preferences.
There is one more difference, and it is not about bodies. BBW is a term many women use for themselves with some pride, and it carries a community with it. PAWG is blunter and more transactional — closer to a tag than an identity. Some creators use it happily. Others who would technically fit want nothing to do with it.
The five terms, side by side
| Term | What it actually describes |
|---|---|
| PAWG | Large backside, white. Says nothing about the rest of her build. |
| BBW | Big beautiful woman — overall body size. A description of the whole figure. |
| Thick | Curvy with weight to it, usually hips and thighs. No ethnicity attached. |
| Slim thick | Small waist with a much larger hip-to-waist ratio. Often slim elsewhere. |
| Curvy | The broadest of the five. Waist-to-hip shape, any size. |
Thick is the one that would be the general case if the word had no baggage — it covers hips and thighs with weight behind them, no ethnicity implied, and it is the term most creators reach for when they do not want an acronym in their bio.
Slim thick is the term that overlaps hardest with PAWG. If the waist-to-hip ratio is what you are looking for rather than the size, that is the more precise search, and it will turn up a different set of pages.
Curvy is so broad it is almost a courtesy word. It narrows nothing. Useful in a bio, useless as a search.
Why the labelling matters here
We only tag a creator PAWG if that is how she describes her own page. We do not assign body-type labels to people based on photographs — partly because it would be presumptuous, and mostly because our guess would be worse than her own description.
That has a consequence worth knowing: our PAWG list is shorter than it could be. Creators who might fit but do not use the word are not on it. We would rather have a short accurate list than a long approximate one, and the rule is written down with the rest of them on how we rank.
It also means the list moves. A creator who rewrites her bio changes what she is tagged as here, without us deciding anything.
What people usually mean when they search it
Judging by what the term sits next to in search, most people using it are after the shape specifically, in an amateur or girl-next-door register rather than a studio one. That is why PAWG and girl next door overlap so heavily as categories, and why most creators who use one tag use both.
The same searches rarely include production words — no “studio”, no “professional”. The term travels with the expectation that the page is run by the person in the photos. Whether that expectation holds on any given page is a separate question, and spotting the pages it does not hold for is worth ten minutes before you subscribe to anything.
If the shape is the point, PAWG is your term. If the overall size is the point, BBW is the one you want, and this is not the right list.
A note on the word
It is crude, and it is also the word the search box gets. We use it because it is what creators tag themselves with and what readers type — not as a description we would apply to anyone who has not applied it to herself first. When a creator’s own bio says something gentler, that is what goes on her profile here.

Questions people ask
- What does PAWG stand for?
- PAWG stands for phat ass white girl. It is an acronym, not a word anybody coined deliberately — the spelling of phat comes from hip-hop slang, where it has meant desirable since long before this term existed.
- What does PAWG mean?
- It describes a white woman with a large backside. That is the entire definition. It is a body-type tag rather than a content style, and it says nothing about her overall size, her age, or what kind of content she makes.
- Is PAWG the same as BBW?
- No, and this is the most common mix-up. BBW means big beautiful woman and describes the whole figure. PAWG describes one part of it, and a woman can be slim everywhere except the part the term is about. Someone searching PAWG and someone searching BBW are usually looking for different builds.
- What is the difference between PAWG and slim thick?
- They overlap more than any other pair on this list. Slim thick describes a small waist against much larger hips, with a slim build elsewhere. PAWG describes the size of the backside without implying anything about the waist. If the ratio is what you are after, slim thick is the closer term; if the size is, PAWG is.
- How do you pronounce PAWG?
- As one syllable, rhyming with dog. Plenty of people spell it out as P-A-W-G instead, and both versions turn up in search often enough that neither is wrong.
